  • "Hi Diane and Ken,
Just wanted to drop you a line to let you both know that Henry and Margaret
    are doing real well.

Henry is about 43 pounds now...and still growing.  He loves to nap and be
held, so much so that we even have "hold Henry hour"  everyday.  He is such
a lap dog and loves it!!

Margaret just had her surgery to spay her.  We thought for sure this would
curve her level of energy, but that is not the case.  She is soooooo  girlie
and has to run off the extra calories in her treats that she loves to eat.

Attached are a few pictures to show you how much they have grown.
We are hoping for some  nice weather to get outdoors more, they both like to
stay inside where it is nice and toasty.

    Talk to you soon
    Karen!"
  • "Hi Diane and Ken,

I hope you and your family are doing well.  The Gellers are doing great and Mr. Tiki is fantastic.  I can't believe he's almost 3 years old.  Boy, time does fly!  I know I tell you this time and time again, but he is such a great dog.  He has such a wonderful personality and he's so obedient and fun to be around.  We owe such a big part of our lives to you.

We thought you would enjoy this picture of Tiki with Santa.

Take care and have a happy and healthy holiday!

Barb, Sid, Lori, Alyssa and Tiki!"
  • "Hi guys,

We want to thank you for the care and preparation you provide for your puppies, and to provide you some updates on little Buddy Angus.

Last night he adjusted to his crate very well, resulting in two spans of 4 hours each that he stayed quietly in the crate before needing to go outside.  He is doing his business mostly outside already and can do the deck steps.

Just now, he went into his crate on his own and layed down to sleep.  WOW!!!

He's doing great, and we'll send some pictures when we get more into the swing.

    Thanks again,
    Rick, Ann and Seth
  • "Hello Diane and Ken ! Here are some new pictures of Daizy May she will be 8 months old on Nov. 1st.  What can we say ? What a great addition to our family.Daizy May is always full of energy and  a lot of fun . She just loves her buddy Cherish (8 yo beagle)  . She runs through the house hugging and kissing Cherish all the time (poor Cherish!). she also gets in the clothes basketand sleeps on the blankets in there. Daizy is about 32 lbs. now. We were thinking of getting her a playmate but with Kristy going to school for nursing we might wait another year but kristy really likes female girl1. We want to thank you for having such a great bassets like Daizy May  for all to enjoy.Daizy has the most unique personality of any bassett we ever had . Angus and Annie puppies are all beautiful .Here are  a few pictures of Daizy May between 7& 8 months old we hope you enjoy. Talk to you soon.

  • "Hi Diane and Ken,
Hope things are well.  I love the puppy pictures of the new bassets!! They
    are so beautiful.

I have attached a few pictures of Henry and Margaret (I need more of
Margaret).  They get a long real well, but have what I call their "puppy"
moments.  Like who needs the most attention.

As you can see Henry is not fond of giving up his first puppy bed, so we are
finding him "trying" to fit in the smaller bed, while Margaret gets the big
bed to stretch out in.  It is just so precious!

They are both doing really well.  Healthy and loving the backyard to run
around and see all of the deer and rabbits that come along.

I will send more pictures soon.
    Karen!"
  • "Hi Ken and Diane,

Back in 2006, our family adopted Lola from one of your litters.  We just want you to know, she is the most wonderful addition to our family and we just love her to pieces!  Thank you so much for allowing us to bring her into our family!

    Love,
    The Campbell Family!"
  • "Hi Diane and Ken,

How are things in your neck of the woods?  Pretty hot down here in the Columbus area.  I just thought I would drop a few lines and let you know that in July Darcy had her one year check up and the vet said that she is in perfect health and that she is the most perfect basset she has ever seen.  I also gave her your guys information so if they have anyone looking for basset hounds they can recommend you.  Darcy is 45lbs and the vet said that is the perfect weight for her and don't want her to get over that.

In August we went out to Las Vegas to see my brother get married and we left Darcy at a kennel called Pet Palace.  They did a very amazing job with her, so that put us at ease if ever we have to go out of town again and family can not take care of her.  So if you have any clients around the Columbus area that asks about where to keep them let them know the Pet Palace if a very nice facility and has very caring people working there.  Their website is http://www.petpalaceresort.com/

Darcy is still the most wonderful pet ever.  We now have her officially out of her cage to where we can leave and there are no accidents in the house or nothing has been chewed up.  She still loves going for walks.  We have a very nice park within walking distance so we usually take her down there.  Her favorite toys are tennis balls and raw hides.  Still loves to bury her bones.  She still really loves being outside.  We are going to build a deck and get a security panel with a doggie door in it for her to just go in and out when she pleases.  Still loves everyone and every dog that comes her way.  She has to make friends wherever we go.

Well I have attached a few more recent pictures of our beautiful dog.  We love her so much and couldn't imagine life without her.  We keep checking the web page and are seriously discussing getting Darcy a friend in the next couple of years, so when we finally decide we will let you know, because there is definitely no place we will ever go for another basset.  As long as you are breeding we will always be back for a new dog when the time is right.

Well hope everyone is doing great.  Give all the dogs a pat and hello for us.

    Love,

    Mandy, Josh, and Darcy Lou.

  • "Next Saturday is Carmen's first birthday!!  I can not believe she has been in our lives almost a year.  She is such a blessing and joy to be around.  She is such a smart girl, and quickly picked up sit, bring it and speak.  She now sings along with the accordion, LOVES being pulled on the sled (even if there is no snow) and has proved herself as an amazing watch dog on a few occasions.

She weighs 43 pounds and is loads of muscle!  She favorite game is knock down one of her girls and jump on them.  She loves our daughters....her girls...she is always guarding them when they are out playing, and has to be be near them.  Our oldest spent one night away from her and Carmen looked miserable.....as soon as our daughter called her and she heard her voice she perked right up, and started barking into the phone!

She is a great girl and a huge part of our family!!
    Thanks so much,
    Jennifer
  • "Hi Diane and Ken,

I thought I would send you a couple of newer pictures of our Darcy Lou.  She will be turning 1 on Tuesday.  I can't believe it.  The last 10 months have gone by so fast.  She has been such a great dog and continues to be a wonderful dog.  She is so lovable and cuddly.  She has a lot of energy.  Loves snooping around the back yard and barking to get our attention.  She is 100% housebroke and very rarely has an accident.  We are now training her to be out of her cage for a period of time while we are not home.  So far we have had good success.  No accidents and she hasn't torn anything up.   She loves playing with tennis balls and getting bones and burying them in the backyard.  When the rain actually clears off and we can get out to the flower beds we are probably going to find bones all over the backyard or there will just be one big huge pile of them.

We keep checking the website to see any new puppies.  I know that we will be back to get another one someday.  We talked about it this year, but there is so much going on that I know we won't have all the time to potty train this one the way we have Darcy.

Well hope everything is going really great and hope to hear from you soon.  Oh by the way Darcy is up to 51 lbs.  Such a piggy.

    Talk to you soon.

    Mandy & Josh!"
  • "Hi Diane and Ken,

Sorry it has been so long since we wrote.  With the holidays everything gets so crazy and takes a while to calm down.  We had a wonderful first holiday season with Darcy.  She was really good about not bothering the Christmas tree.  Christmas morning she started burying things including her bone underneath and at the very back of the tree.

Darcy is just absolutely wonderful.  She is so good and loves to play and be around us.  She is a big lap dog.  When she sits on the couch with us she has to lay half of her body on one of us.  She has a bunch of toys that she plays with.  Her favorite is her tennis balls.  She loves to catch them and fetch them and then bring them back to us.  She also really loves to play in the snow and rain

Everything is going really well and nothing too exciting.  I have attached some pictures from the past couple of months.

    Talk to you soon!

    Mandy!"
  • "Tiki is the MOST BEAUTIFUL dog in the world.  You have no idea how much joy and love he has brought into our family.  No family could ever love a dog more.  He is also a walking billboard for onedamdeer.  We can’t take a step without someone asking us where we got him.  We’ve even had people stopped at a traffic light next to us in the car telling us they have a basset but ours is the most beautiful they’ve ever seen.  He is so good, so content and SO SMART!  He’s not stubborn at all.  He listens and studies our faces when we talk to him.  I swear he’s going to actually speak one day!  We know he would never be the dog he is today without all of the love and wonderful care you and Ken gave him from the start.  It really made a difference.  We will never be able to thank you enough for giving us this precious gift.
I’m so happy for Mandy and Josh.  They are absolutely thrilled with Darcy and they can’t say enough great things about you and Ken.
    We’ll talk to you soon,
    Barb!"

  • Hi Diane and Ken,

Thought I would just drop a few lines to let you know how everything is going.  Well as we are working on our 4th week of having Darcy, we couldn't love her more.  She has already become such a part of our life.  She is doing really well.  She really loves food, water and her treats.  She also really loves meeting other people and dogs.  She gets really excited when they walk by.  We really have to make her stay or she will drag us right over to whoever it is.  Everyone really loves her and thinks that she is adorable.  We have two families that have asked us all kind of questions about you guys and are thinking about possibly purchasing a basset from you.  We have directed them to your website.

She also likes getting in behind the blinds and walking back and forth and then laying between them and the back door.  She will even take some of her toys back there with her.  She also really likes the toilet.  We are not sure if it is just fascinating to her or if she is trying to drink the water.  She has taken 3 baths now and gets better with each one, but has to drink herself out of the tub.  When we give her the next one we are not going to fill the bath tub up with water and see how she does.  She likes getting her teeth brushed, but I am sure that is because she has vanilla flavored toothpaste.  We also have gotten her some rawhides and she really likes chewing on them.  That has helped with the chewing in general, still likes to try to nibble on us though.

She is now going to our front door and scratching on a Coleman water jug to let us know she has to go out.  She has learned how to climb the stairs, so we got a gate to stop her from sneaking off upstairs on us, because she still hasn't figured out how to go down them.  She is doing well in her crate.  Holds herself all morning until I come home from lunch.  Then in the afternoon she is still spotty somedays it is dry then others days she has gone to the bathroom, but that is about 5 hours she is holding herself, so it is still understandable.  We are only getting up once a night to let her out verses about every 2-3 hours at first.  She has also learned sit, stay, come, get down, and get in your cage.  Still a little back and forth with her name, but everyday gets better.  About the only thing that gets her into trouble is her nose.  She gets a scent and she can become very stubborn.  But it is still not terrible.

We are wondering how the move from our apartment to the house is going to go, but I think everything will be fine because she has been so good.  She even controls her barking well.  We go back on Aug. 15th to get her next round of shots.  I was never able to get the one move compressed so Josh is going to try to edit it on our movie editor for me, so hopefully that will help.

I have attached a few new pictures for your viewing pleasure.

    Talk to you soon!

    Mandy
